The Walking Dead star Michael Rooker has said that no one made any money in the early seasons of the show due to AMC being cheap.
Michale Rooker hasn’t been shy about sharing his discontent with AMC’s handling of The Walking Dead. In the show, Rooker played Merle Dixon, the volatile brother of Norman Reedus’s Daryl Dixon. The character originally appeared in only two episodes of the show’s first season before disappearing altogether and only reappearing as a hallucination in the second season. He then became a supporting character for The Walking Dead‘s third season before being killed by its main antagonist, The Governor.
Earlier this year, Michael Rooker spoke a bit about the death of his character in The Walking Dead. He claimed that AMC was cheap and didn’t want to have to pay him any more money for additional seasons. Now Michael Rooker has spoken up again regarding AMC and The Walking Dead. While speaking to Inside of You Podcast, the actor claims that no one made any money off of the early seasons of the show:
“Were they cheap? Of course they were cheap. Come on, give me a break! Are you serious? Nobody got any money those first three, four seasons. And we killed it, dude. We worked our asses off and we made that series. But nobody got any money.”
