Former star of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, Caitlyn Jenner opened up about why her marriage to Kris Jenner didn't work. After five years of being divorced, Caitlyn revealed what exactly went wrong.
Most people knew Caitlyn as an Olympian and Wheaties box cover model back when her name was legally Bruce Jenner. Jenner then came out as transgender back in April of 2015. During a 2017 interview, Jenner confirmed that she had undergone gender reassignment surgery. She revealed that always felt like a woman and the surgery had just enhanced that. She wanted to express that choosing to have the surgery never defined who she was as a human being. Her first marriage was to Chrystie Crownover - the mother of daughter Cassandra and son Burt - which ended in 1981, partly due to her gender confusion. Her second marriage was to Linda Thomson, aka Elvis's former girlfriend who mothered Caitlyn's sons Brody and Brandon. She revealed that her second marriage also ended after she revealed her gender dysphoria condition to her wife. She kind of shut down after her two failed marriages and stayed alone for six years.
In Caitlyn's recent The Daily Mail interview, she opened up about the time she had with Kris Jenner and how that marriage also ended in divorce. Caitlyn revealed that before meeting Kris, she had already begun her transition, as she began electrolysis to get rid of her facial hair and chest hair. She also underwent a nose job and even began hormone therapy which began the growth of her breasts. In her memoir, Caitlyn revealed that she was considering undergoing a full gender transition until she met Kris and decided to put it on hold and instead got married to her only seven months later. Caitlyn maintains that Kris knew about her gender dysphoria, and even had seen her dress as a woman several times during their marriage.
Caitlyn described the breakdown of her marriage in her memoir as "a toxic combination of her withering anger with me and my defensiveness and generally being at each other's throats, and the kids asking their mother why she yelled at me all the time." During their 23-year-long marriage, Caitlyn fathered two children Kendall and Kylie. She said, "We built an amazing family. But circumstances and people change. And I think the hardest thing is to be able to make those changes together and still be as strong." The two separated in 2013, "When Kris and I separated, it wasn't because of trans issues. It was for a million other reasons. Kris and I had a great relationship for a long time." A year after their separation, Kris filed for a divorce, though revealed that the full transition did catch her off guard. However, Caitlyn explained, "Our relationship didn't work anymore and we mutually decided that it was time to split up. There was no animosity."
It seems that while it was a hard time right before they split, otherwise Kris and Caitlyn had a very happy 23-year-long marriage together, did an amazing job raising their children together, and entertained fans with Keeping Up with the Kardashians. It seems like while her first two marriages ended because of trans issues, it wasn't the case with her marriage with Kris, it was just the mountain of other issues that stacked up.
