Warning: SPOILERS for The Boys season 2 finale ahead
-
Showrunner Eric Kripke confirms Aya Cash's Stormfront didn't die during The Boys season 2 finale. Leading up to the second season of Amazon Prime Video's hit show, it was announced that Stormfront was joining the ensemble cast. She was introduced at the beginning of season 2 and immediately established herself as a threat to Homelander and The Boys. But, Stormfront's true Nazi origins and plans eventually made her a villain to the entire planet. This left fans of The Boys to wonder how the season 2 finale would bring an end to her story.
As the big bad of the season, most fans were in agreement that Stormfront would die during The Boys season 2 finale. There were plenty of theories about who could be strong enough to kill Stormfront, and it appeared that Homelander's son Ryan was. During the last episode of the season, Ryan used his laser vision for the first time to stop Stormfront from attacking his mom Becca. This resulted in the death of Becca, but Stormfront was shown with her arms and legs cut off and severe burns across her body. Her dire state sparked questions about if she survived this event or if she died, and it turns out that Stormfront lives.
In a recent interview with TV Line discussing many aspects of the season 2 finale, The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke was asked about Stormfront's fate. Since The Boys didn't show Stormfront take a final breath or be buried, many were skeptical that she did, in fact, die. According to Kripke, those viewers were right to be skeptical because Stormfront - or Stumpfront as he now calls her - is still alive.
No, she’s not dead! She’s Stumpfront! She’s a stumpy little Nazi. She’s actually not dead. What we thought was interesting is, if you remember, she ages very, very slowly. So the best poetic ending for that character is someone who so believed in some kind of pure race finds herself mutilated and having to live with it for potentially centuries felt like a fate worse than death for her. So no, Stumpfront is not dead. Hashtag Stumpfront lives!

Just a few hours removed from The Boys season 2 finale going live, it is somewhat surprising for one of the episode's biggest questions to already be answered so definitively. There were teases in the episode that this was the case, but some were hesitant to trust the source. Homelander said in the finale that Stormfront had been neutralized and locked up in an undisclosed location. However, since season 2 opened with Homelander and Vought covering up Translucent's death, it was possible they were doing the same with Stormfront even after her Nazi origin was exposed.
With Stormfront now confirmed to be alive, this raises big questions about her possible role in The Boys season 3. Kripke didn't tease that she will return right away, but we now know that she is not off the table. If they're already considering ways to bring Love Sausage back after the fan response to his season 2 debut, Stormfront could be brought back in a completely new capacity in season 3 or beyond. Whether or not that does happen, fans can check Stormfront's fate off the unanswered The Boys season 2 questions list.
