Latest Movies 2019 | Jon Hamm Talks TOP GUN: MAVERICK and Says The "Mostly Practical" Aerial Footage is "Mind-Blowing"
It sounds like our next adventure to the danger zone with Top Gun: Maverick is going to blow audiences away! Actor Jon Hamm recently talked about the film and how there was new filmmaking tech used to shoot the action-packed aerial combat scenes. He also says that the footage that was shot is mind-blowing:
“We’re shooting the movie in, I think, 6K. So it’s incredibly hi-def. The aerial footage is mind-blowing. And it’s mostly practical. There’s not a lot of CG. Those guys are really up in planes and getting thrown around in multiple Gs.”
He goes on to say that the Top Gun sequel takes the story in a different direction and that it will be interesting for fans of the first film:
“I think it’s gonna be, for the people who love the first movie I think it’s gonna’ be very interesting to watch. It very much takes the story in a different direction. But I think for the new fans it’s gonna be something very cool, too. I’ve seen some of the footage, it is out of this world.”
Top Gun: Maverick is going to be set in a world of drone technology and fifth generation fighters along with exploring the end of the era of dogfighting. Maverick is now a Top Gun flight instructor and Goose's son, Bradley Bradshaw, joins the program. The relationship between Maverick and Goose's son is certainly going to make for an interesting story dynamic.
The film stars Tom Cruise, Miles Teller as Goose's son, Val Kilmer, Glen Powell, Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm, Ed Harris, and Lewis Pullman.
Top Gun: Maverick has been shooting in San Diego with Joseph Kosinski (Tron: Legacy) at the helm.
The movie is set to be released on June 26, 2020. Are you excited about this next chapter in Maverick’s Top Gun story?
